Artist Statement

Every drawing begins with a single line and a willingness not to know where it will lead.
Working intuitively, I build intricate compositions through repetitive mark-making, allowing each line to respond to the last.

Rather than planning a fixed outcome, I trust the process to reveal one. What might appear meticulous or highly controlled is, in fact, an exercise in letting go and allowing the work to reveal itself one line at a time. This act of sustained attention transforms drawing into a conversation between intention and discovery, where complexity emerges gradually through patience rather than control.

Rooted in the principles of mindful drawing, my practice is informed by an interest in how repetitive mark-making can regulate attention, calm the nervous system and transform drawing from a pursuit of perfection into a meditative act of presence. The finished drawings stand as records of this process, visible traces of time, curiosity and quiet persistence. They invite viewers to slow down, explore intricate details and consider how something remarkable can emerge from the simple act of following one line into the next.
